President’s Report

Judy Huyvaert

Many thanks are in order this month...October is definitely the busiest month for our club. We started the month with our booth at the Health & Safety Fair- thank you Sherry Esposito & all the girls who worked our booth! Jeanette, Mary Wolski & I attended Chief Ralph Blust's retirement party on the 8th. Then came our big event- the Fall Auction- many thanks to our chairmen Sharon Fonte & Linda Jackson; Donna Bekas our Balloon Raffle Chairman and also to so many of you who helped for months or weeks before, those who donated items, those who helped that night...it certainly was a success!! And thank God Norm showed up- what a relief! Next up was the Bake Sale at GH Harvest Fest- thanks to everyone who baked and especially those who worked our booth that day! Another big October event was the Holiday Showcase...many thanks to our Chairman Mary Wolski who spent countless hours planning and calling and preparing as well as Joanna Seebeck who worked with Mary every step of the way and again thanks to all the club members who helped that day. I also want to thank Peggy Wells and our Nominating Committee who will be presenting a slate for our 2005 Executive Board positions. I am also still in need of chairmen for several of our Committees & Departments, please consider taking on a chairmanship position- your support of our club work is so important! We will
need a "few good men" to also step forward for the 2005 Fall Auction. We at least need to get the date booked and Norm confirmed immediately...then we plan on further breaking down the Auction Chairmen into major categories, so no one (or two) people have to take on the chairmanship task alone. Hopefully this will make it easier on everyone.

I look forward to seeing you all on the 3rd at Glenside Fire District. See you then!

Education Department

Sherry Esposito

Many thanks to all who helped with the Health Fair on October 6th at the Sports Hub. Thanks to Ann for the ghost bean-bag game she "whipped up", to Judy H. for the literature and hand-outs for alternative care for women, the pamphlets on CASA and RAF and fold-outs describing our club. Judy H. also supplied us with a DVD she put together which is a collection of photos highlighting our club activities and her TV which she brought for us to play it on. The DVD was set to upbeat music and we played it throughout the night to advertise our club. Thanks to Joyce H. for the flyers she brought to our table advertising the fall auction and Holiday Showcase fair. More thanks to Virginia Engle, Laura Burke, Joanna Seebeck, Judy H. and Jeannette for their help in manning the table and helping with the kids game. Fun was had by all and it was an opportunity to let folks in the community know what our club was about.

Thanks again,
Sherry Esposito

The media frenzy surrounding the Presidential and US Senate races has already given you more information than you probably wanted to know about all the candidates running. There are also referendums on most ballots again. There are referendums in Addison, Carol Stream, Roselle, and Glenbard School District 87.

Great schools, good parks, low crime rates, good property values are the reasons you probably chose to live in DuPage County. All of these amenities do not happen by accident.

Freedom isn’t free. Our country is free because people like you take the time to vote.

Thank you for taking the time to vote, it does count!

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

Our Murder Mystery Social is shaping up to be a fun evening. As of now, we have about 35 people signed up to attend. By the time you read this, I will have turned in the numbers for the dinner, but we still have five spaces open for the murder mystery. If you or anyone you know are still interested in that, the cost is $20/person payable at the November General Meeting.

The event will be held at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream at Gary and North Avenues. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Garden Room off the main restaurant dining room. Everyone has chosen their meal; there will be a cash bar. We will move upstairs to a meeting room for more privacy for the actual "murder" at 8 p.m. It is expected to last approximately 1-1/2 hours.

Any questions prior to the meeting, please call me.

How many ways can we say thank you to Mel Warren, the magic man behind the incredible magic woman, Ann!
