Hi Ladies!

I hope you all had a great and wonderful summer.  I know I did.

Boy! What an exciting summer.....even though we were not meeting, we were working.  I want to Thank everyone who participated in our events this summer.  To mention a few...the Bingo Tent, The Parade, Relay for Life, National Night Out, Membership Drive and Memorial Day at Veterans Memorial Park.  So Thank You for all your help, it helps others and help us.   Volunteerism also makes me feel good about myself (amazing, isn’t it?)   Upcoming events are:  Fall Auction, Health Fair, and the Vendor Fair.  I hope to see you at these events also....more hands less work!

Please remember Sue in your prayers and please try to attend our September 7th meeting.  Sue’s brother would like to speak to us and make a presentation to our club.

Have a Great Day!
Joyce Hundhausen

Hi everyone!

What a quick summer!  It was great spending time with friends in the Bingo Tent (special thanks to Judy and Jeanette who have this fundraising event so well organized), at the National Night Out gathering, (Mary Schroeder sure knows how to handle hundreds of orders at the food tent), the Glendale Hts. Parade, (Judy came to our rescue with a "float" for those of us that didn't want to walk in the heat that Joyce braved) and the Membership Drive. Thanks to Becki Tybor, Speaker- Mayor Linda Jackson, Speaker-Jeanette Wells-GFWC Illinois  5th District Jr. Director, Judy Huyvaert who shared almost 20 years of membership history with the GHJWC, Ann Warren for once again providing a wonderful "token" for guests to take home and to Sue Johnson for all of the publicity. Everyone that was involved or supported these events in any way deserves a high five.

Hope to see you all at the general meeting on Wednesday, Sept 7.

Laura

Bingo

PE03993_.WMF (9732 bytes)

Ladies,

Thank you to everyone for helping us have another successful BINGO this year!
We will have a sheet with a breakdown at our September General Meeting, we just thought we would let you know that our total profit was $2,492.00 minus expenses of $665.27 left us with $1,826.61. Giving us $274.11 for the club and $1,552.62 to pay out. Per our budget $1,240 of this goes for our annual commitments, such as Chamber dues, Humanitarian Service Project (our senior) etc. That left us with $312.62 which was decided when we drafted the budget that anything left would go toward the room fee for our meetings at the golf course. Like we said we will have a sheet to pass out at the meeting!

Thanks again for an awesome event!

Jeanette and Judy

We held a Membership Drive last week; hopefully we’ll be welcoming some new members into our club in the next few months. It is important for all of us to tell people about our club and invite them to join in. We are always in need of new members so we can accomplish all the wonderful work we do and continue to raise funds and support our community. Word of mouth is the very best way to gain new members. When I think about blessings in my life, the friends I have made in club is one of the most important. Not only do I love the work we do and all the people we are able to help, but I love all of you, my friends.

We are going to Navy Pier on Sunday, September 18, 2005. I've been able to rent a school bus for this outing. If we have 30 ladies, it should only cost us about $6.00 each for transportation! Much less expensive than driving and parking the car.

If you would like to take a cruise on the Spirit of Chicago, it boards at 11:a.m. and departs at 12 noon. You eat lunch and return at 2:00 P.M. Cost is $38.00, which includes tour and lunch. Please call or email me to reserve your spot.

Hi Everyone, our December installation meeting will be held the first Wed. in December at Spavones Restaurant in Bloomingdale. I met with Tony and he will put together a list of 3 entrees which will be available. I will have a sign up sheet at the October and November meeting, but at least this gives everyone the heads up and if you are anything like I am the sooner you know for scheduling the better it is.

With hugs,

ICE-TODAY

A campaign encouraging people to enter an emergency contact number in their mobile phone's memory under the heading ICE (In Case of Emergency), has rapidly spread throughout the world as a particular consequence of last week's terrorist attacks in London.

Originally established as a nationwide campaign in the UK, ICE allows paramedics or police to be able to contact a designated relative/next-of-kin in an emergency situation.

The idea is the brainchild of East Anglian Ambulance Service paramedic Bob Brotchie and was launched in May this year. Bob, 41, who has been a paramedic for 13 years, said, "I was reflecting on some of the calls I've attended at the roadside where I had to look through the mobile phone contacts struggling for information on a shocked or injured person. Almost everyone carries a mobile phone now, and with ICE a rescuer would know immediately who to contact and what number to ring. The contact person may even know of their medical history."

By adopting the ICE advice, your mobile will help the rescue services quickly contact a friend or relative, which could be vital in a life or death situation. It only takes a few seconds to do, and it could easily help save your life. Why not put ICE in your phone now? Simply choose the person to contact in case of emergency, enter them under the word ICE and their telephone number. For more than one contact name them ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

FYI--Ladies Please do not e-mail any forwards or jokes, since my e-mail is at work. They just made a new rule that we cannot open this kind of stuff, so I would just have to delete it any way. Please feel free to send any kind of club info or attachments as our office allows a certain amount of volunteer work to be done on company time. I know is seems like the policies contradict each other, but that is Corporate America for you! Thanks a million! Jeanette.

NOTE: There are no minutes and no Treasurer's report in this edition. Those will be provided at the next general meeting.

In Loving Memory of Sue Dees

God saw she was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So he put His arms around her
And whispered, "Come with Me".

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer
And saw her fade away.
Althought we loved her dearly,
We could not make her stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

We'll miss you Sue....

.....an angel now that we know by name.
