President's Report
Joyce Hundhausen 464-0209, joyce@svs.com
Hi Ladies!
May was such an exciting month! For all of those who missed convention, you
missed a great time. The luncheons were excellent and of course the Junior Night
Festivities were fun. June was jammed packed with great (optional) events as
well. Since we dont meet until September, you might want to read all the
events and happenings that our club will be involved in over the summer, and at least stop
by. We had a great June meeting: Janet from MYM (Meld for Young Mothers) gave a
small talk on her organization, and Mary Schroeder presented our Scholarship Winner. We
also enjoyed our buffet ($10.00 per person) and our social chairs program (fashion
show of $15.00 outfits) Last, but not at all the least, please say a prayer for Sue Dees,
as she has not been doing very well.
Have a
Great Day!
Joyce Hundhausen
Vice President's Report
Laura Burke653-5664Lburke3942@aol.com
Hi
everyone!
Hope your summer is going well and you're able to find time to enjoy this fabulous
weather. Since we won't be meeting again until September, please use these few months to
catch up on much needed paperwork. There have been may activities that we've done as a
club but very few reports turned in. Since "reporting" will be here before we
know it, it's important to have everything in advance for organizational purposes. Judy
Huyvaert is collecting reports and has blank forms if you need them.
Also, keep you ears open for any new fundraisers that you might like to see the club
offer. We're always looking for new ideas and welcome suggestions.. Speaking of
fundraisers, here's an unexpected comment.....I'll be ordering the Innisbrook Fundraising
(holiday gift wrap) forms shortly!! How's that for a shocker!
While you're out at your neighborhood parties, or local summer events, please do all you
can to invite local ladies to our meetings. The plan is to try and double our membership
by this time next year but it can't happen if current members don't help spread the word.
I personally heard about this club through Allana Zeiss while talking about the Glendale
Heights Parade one year. She didn't sell me, she just invited me to attend a meeting. I
didn't have a clue what it was all about but because she said it I was welcome to come to
a meeting I thought, hey, what's it hurt to go check it out. After my first meeting, I
knew this was a club I wanted to be a part of. I felt right at home due to the friendly
and welcoming attitudes of the members. Thank you to all of you that belong to this
wonderful club and thank you to those of you who believe in it so strongly that you'll
promote membership this summer.
Stay cool and dry (not a problem these past few weeks)!
See you soon!
Laura

Hi Everyone,
Happy Summer! First thank you so much to all of you who took part in OUR
SPECIAL SUE DAY! I hope everyone had a great time and with a group of fifteen of us we
keep the restaurant alive that is for sure. The summer social will be held at Mary
Wolski's House and I hope we will have a great attendance. We are trying something
different doing it on a Saturday afternoon so hopefully we will have a great turn out.
Also please remember to RSVP to either myself or Mary a week a head of time so plans can
be made accordingly. She has a beautiful Jacuzzi for those who care to partake or just
bring your swim suit and shorts to sit on the side. Please bring either a dessert or an
appetizer to share. Anyone who has any fun games such as pictionary, scategories, etc also
please feel free to bring them as they are always fun. Thank you to Sharon Fonte for
handling the food arrangements for our June meeting the food was great as always. Is
anyone interested in doing the same thing in September to kick off the fall? I only have
one suggestion different as far as the time goes to have the food served at 7:00p so as to
not make the meeting as long. Thank you to all of you who participated in the 15.00
fashion show. The clothing items will now be donated to Family Shelter. Thank you Jeanette
for bringing an idea from another club to share with us. There are a lot of fall fairs in
the are I am going to check into and see if perhaps we could do a lunch perhaps in Geneva
or St Charles and then go check out the fairs which always have a lot of neat items. If
anyone is interested in something like this please let me know and I will get more
details.
Most of all I hope you each have a great summer and enjoy your children and
grandchildren as I will do with mine!
With hugs,
Cheryl

Miss DuPage and Miss Western Suburbs Update
Laura Burke
How's $16,000 towards college tuition sound? Both of the girls, Valerie
Lynch (MDC) and Lauren Allen (MWS) competed for the title of Miss Illinois on 6/17-18.
Valerie impressed the judges and was awarded 1st runner up. Lauren impressed them even
more and is now Miss Illinois 2005! Their prize amounts will go a long way towards Val's
second year in law school and Lauren will use hers after she competes for Miss America as
she finishes up her senior year at nursing school. Thank you to everyone in this club that
supports this program! Without you, these girls might not have experienced this wonderful
year and who knows what will happen next year! This is proof positive that volunteering
can change someone's life. Thank you and let's wish Lauren the best of luck as she
competes in January 2006 at Miss America (more scholarship money just for showing up!).

basket will do. The gift bag committee needs small items for the first 100 people. These
items are anything light and small. In the past we had pens with a business name on them,
tea lites with a business card attached, key chains, small bottles of shampoo, coupons,
etc, etc. Let us know your ideas.

The committee will use business cards again. There are two shifts on Thursday, Friday

Jeanette Wells ask if the $20.00 table fee is a deposit and if we are
giving back the $20.00 fee after each vendor turns in their gift. No, this year we are
asking for a $20.00 table fee plus a $25.00 valued gift from their company. Mary explains
that this is her experience with other groups. Usually the table fee is $50.00 and up.
This year the committee needs some money to work with for advertising.
The committee met twice, and this is their group decision.
The next report will be October board and November general meetings.

Jeannette shares her experience at federation.
The clubs got their reports handed back to them. This way each club can refer back to the
reports when making out 2006 reports.
Our club had the most members in attendance. A screen will be added in 2006 behind the
speaker. This will help in viewing the stage from the audience.
This event in 2006 will be in the first weekend in May.

Call Jeanette if you are interested in summer seminars. They are in Aurora Fox Valley on
July 15, forty five minute workshops.

(Note* Later I went through the past minutes and found that in June 2004 we did pass that
motion for 2004 Relay).

surprising to see how much some girls got for their $15.00. These outfits will be washed
