President's Report
Joyce Hundhausen 464-0209, joyce@svs.com

What a wonderful meeting we had this month. In my opinion, the outpouring of love we have for our members is a testimony to what this club is all about. We received a beautiful Thank You Card from Sue Dees. At this time, I would like to thank Ann Warren and Jeanette Wells for helping with the raffle. The Village of Glendale Heights and Our Emergency Fund donated to benefit Sue, and mostly all the members for helping Sue. Sue has been an outstanding member in our club.

It is also good to see many more members have signed up for the various open committees. It is my hope in the future, to have short meetings, so that we can socialize afterward. So please have your committee reports ready, short, and to the point. All of our members will appreciate this.

Vice President's Report
Laura Burke 653-5664,  Lburke3942@aol.com

Greetings everyone,
Hard to believe we're only two months into the new year and this club is moving ahead at full speed! A huge thank you and kudo's to Joyce Hundhausen for chairing the Candlelight Bowl again this year and to Judy Huyvaert, Jeanette Wells and everyone else who joined forces for this event. Together as a team, they make it seem so simple and yet, the amount of work that goes into it is endless. Thank you for a great charity event.
It's wonderful to see the club is growing with new membership. To our newest members, welcome aboard and please let us know if there's anything we can do to help you get comfortable and active with this amazing club.

See you all on March 2 ~
Laura

Immediate Past President/Reporting
Judy Huyvaert, 894-8615, jhuyvaert1@hotmail.com

Thank you to all of you that have signed up as committee chairs or on committee's. Please remember that the final step for all the work you do is to turn in a "report". I have plenty of report forms for all you girls. Anything you do as club work should have a report filled out for it- not only does it help us keep track of club work, it helps the next person who may do that activity or event and makes it much easier for us to fill out Federation report forms.

Candlelight Bowl!

Hi Ladies!

The Candlelight Bowl is this weekend!!!!! There is not to much to report, except that we did not sell out and the raffle tickets, well the club may have to pay for some, unless we sell them at the event. Not reaching our goals here does affect our donation to our charities. Remember, that they are County Agencies and have probably helped people in our community as well as others. The DuPage Shelter and CASA have been notified of this event. CASA has already spoken to us and I am trying to get The DuPage Family Services rep out to talk to us in April or May.

On a better note, I want to thank Judy and Jeanette for their unwavering help in this event. They are great to work with and have great ideas. I also want to thank the members who went all out and sold a great deal of the admission and raffle tickets, you ladies are the greatest.

P.S., we did sell all the raffle tickets and it turned out to be a great night. More details to follow in next months newsletter.

Thank You!

Newsletter and Web Site
Laura Burke (630) 653-5663  lburke3942@aol.com

Surprisingly, there were no suggestions for a name for the newsletter. That's too bad because the prize for the winning name was a trip to Hawaii, all expenses paid including a new wardrobe for a week! In addition to that, there was a complete home makeover that would have taken place while the winner was sunning in Hawaii!  That contest is now over. So, at this time, the newsletter will be called "Newsletter" until something better comes along.

The website is really shaping up! If you haven't visited it lately, be sure to check it out at "ghjwc.org".

  Social Committee

Cheryl Channic, 830-2618
Donna Bekas, 628-0489

Hi Everyone,

Well, Social has been busy organizing events for the next couple of months This weekend we have the famous Candlelight Bowl which I am very proud of Joyce and the club for pulling it together once again for a great evening.

In March we have two events booked. The first is on March 11th at the home of Ann Warren it is a Bunco Night! For those of you who do not know it is a very simple game that is played with only three dice. If you can count (even if you need to use your fingers and toes) you will be able to play this game it is super simple. All we ask you to bring is either an appetizer or a dessert and five dollars which goes to the prizes at the end of the night. Casual attire and this is a great time to bring a guest if you want to. Please RSVP to me by 3/7 so we will have a head count to be able to tell our great hostess for seating. For those of you who have been before please pass on the word how much fun it is! This will begin at approximately 7:30p.

Second we will be holding our annual chili cookoff at the clubhouse directly across from Jewel on the east side of Bloomingdale Road just north of Army Trail Road. This is also a great place to bring guest to. With this event you are asked to make a batch of your famous chili and bring it in a crock pot The cost is ten dollars per person and for that the club provides unlimited wine, beer, pop, salad etc for the evening. We actually have a judging by the guests and prizes are awarded at the end of the evening. This is also a great place to bring guests so they get to see us in a more casual atmosphere. Barb Kuminowski was kind enough to get the clubhouse again and her and her committee did a great job last year, which will be big shoes to follow in. Please RSVP to this event ASAP so we can plan accordingly. This event will begin at approximately 7:00p. This is also an opportunity to invite spouses and significant others as it is an informal which jeans being appropriate. Any questions please feel free to contact myself or Donna and if you have any suggestions for future events you can either call or email me and we will be able to schedule them. Social is for everyone!

With hugs,

Cheryl 630-830-2618 or cell 630-202-2618 or email at channic@msn.com
